Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire in Montreal's West Island is a tiny, sleepy town. The people who aren't familiar with this term tend to think it's an island that's in the west of Montreal However, in reality the West Island is home to everything from Lachine west to the Lachine city. Lachine west. Amanda Brugel's hometown is often mentioned, but her brief time in the city did not last long. Brugel became an aspiring young lady living in Courtice Ontario, just outside Oshawa. The first goal she had was to become a dancer, but an increase in her height resulted in her outgrowing her dance partners. The article she wrote about her experience revealed written by The Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall when wearing heels. As soon as I outgrew all my male partners and stopped dancing, I quit. Many former dancers turn to acting, and in the case of Brugel it was an urging from her drama teacher. Her teacher suggested she audition to play the character of Anne in their annual school production. Following a trial her options, she was eventually the leading lady for Anne of Green Gables. When she was awarded the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she enrolled in York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 2000. In the 20+ years that followed, Brugel has landed roles on more than 60 productions on small and big screens. She attracted the most interest when she was offered the role in the role of Rita on the award-winning series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was the character Rita in the Handmaid's Tale, a series that was filmed over ten years ago.
